Giants’ Boothe: If it Ain’t Broke, Don’t Fix it

Why fix something if it’s not broken?  That is Giants’ guard Kevin Boothe’s approach to Sunday night’s Super Bowl against the New England Patriots. The 6-year veteran is more than confident in his team’s preparation and says they will pursue the Super Bowl just as they would any other game.  Pro Player Insiders spoke with the New York City native about his preparations for the Big Dance.

PPI:  Have you received any tips from the other veterans in regards to what to expect this week or how to prepare differently?

KB:  I don’t think you prepare differently, you try to keep [things] as normal as possible. Obviously that’s going to be difficult at times, but it’s going to be a 60- minute game.  We know the rules; we know the field.  I think you have to keep it normal as possible and try to prepare as such.

PPI:  A couple of months ago, the thought of the Giants going to the Super Bowl, would have received laughter.  What do you think came together for your team?

KB:  I don’t know if you could put it in one single item, we just started playing full football – full 60 minutes as a team. I think that that led us start winning a few games and finishing games, and that led us to where we are now.

PPI:  What does playing on the World’s Biggest Stage mean to you?

KB:  It [feels] great. You always want to be playing football in the Super Bowl.  You never want to be watching it on TV, or wondering and having regrets.  We are excited about this opportunity and we look to take advantage of it.

PPI:  In terms of your personal pregame preparation and superstitions, do you have certain music you listen to or certain foods you might eat before?

KB:  I actually don’t listen to music before the game, so I don’t know if that’s superstitious or not.  There are a lot of different things that guys do, but I don’t think I’m too superstitious. I’m sure if somebody watched me, I’m sure they’d say I am — but I tend to think I’m fairly normal.

PPI:  When you do listen to music, what’s on the top of your playlist?

KB:  Anything really. I [listen to] a big mix of music. I kind of listen to whatever’s on the radio.

PPI:  Aside from football, what are some things that you enjoy doing?

KB: Hanging out with my wife and son.  I think that’s my main thing that I do during my down time, which isn’t often.
