Geno is a Jet

After a long, long wait. It is finally over.

Geno Smith if officially a member of the New York Jets. One pick after one of the other highly publicized players Manti Te’o went to the Chargers.

Geno Smith had a stellar senior season with the West Virginia Mountaineers throwing 42 touchdowns and only six interceptions. However, after a hot start to the season it ended with a loss to Syracuse in the Pinstripe Bowl.

Following the loss speculation began to grow over whether he had the mental toughness. Arm strength wasn’t a question and proved to be a pure passer at his Pro Day, who he received help with from familiar target and friend Tavon Austin (drafted no. eight overall by the Rams).

Aaron Rodgers, who received a contract extension earlier today, tweeted to Smith that ”
good things come to those who wait” sentiments Rodgers received from former NFL Commisioner Paul Tagliabu as he too suffered a long wait to be selected.

While Rodgers was still drafted in the first round, Smith had to wait until the 39th overall pick, the eighth pick of the second round.

Surely, Smith can now breath a sigh of relief as the long wait is over and he can finally relax…until he deals with the media madness that lives in New York City and the quarterback battle ensues in the Meadowlands as Smith will challenge former-first round pick Mark Sanchez
