Forte’s MRI Confirms Grade 2 MCL, Out 2-6 Wks

An MRI on Bears RB Matt Forte’s injured knee confirmed a Grade 2 MCL sprain with no ACL damage. It’s relatively good news, but Forte still isn’t a lock to return for the regular season.  MCL sprains are 2-6 week injuries.

The Bears are still in position for a Wild Card berth, so Forte could be back for the playoffs if not the end of the regular season, but the Bears will have to pull things together to keep that playoff position.  They are 0-2 since losing Jay Cutler, and will be in a deeper hole offensively without Matt Forte.

This week, they managed just 3 points in a 10-3 loss to the Chiefs.  And in their last four games, they still have to play the 12-0 Green Bay Packers and the red-hot Denver Broncos, who are 6-1 since Tim Tebow took over.
