Fantasy Week 11 Trenches or Benches

Week 10 Review

QB:

Bustout Play: Mathew Stafford: What was expected to be a high scoring affair between the Packers and Lions didn’t quite live up to the hype.  Stafford’s production was underwhelming at best. His 266 yards and 1 TD to go along with 2 picks, weren’t what owners were hoping for.

Upside Play: Carson Palmer: Palmer gave owners just what they were looking for with 312 yards and 2 TDs, with a couple of INTs. With the Raiders seemingly always playing catch up, Palmer should continue to amass some garbage stats which in the fantasy world is just what the doctor ordered.

RB:

Sleeper Play: BenJarvis Green-Ellis: The Law firm came through just as predicted, with his first 100 yard performance of the season to go along with a TD. The Chiefs continue to make opponents salivate at the sight of them on the schedule!  BJGE continues to be a decent flex and RB2 with the right matchup.

Sleeper Play: Larod Stephens-Howling: LRS exceeded my expectations with his 127 yards and 1 TD performance against the Falcons on Sunday and was a delight for owners who had the confidence to start him. Now if only I could have taken my own advice. In one of my leagues, my 6 year old Kylie said, “Dad, start Shonn Greene because my favorite color is Green!”  How can you go against a 6 year old?  Good thing it didn’t cost me the W!

WR:

Sleeper Play: Darrius Heyward-Bey: DHB didn’t quite get it done for owners with a 4-catch, 69-yard performance. He wasn’t a complete bust, but a TD would have made the day that much better.

Upside Play: Steve Smith: Smith continued his somewhat disappointing production on Sunday with a 5-catch. 61-yard day. Smith continues to suffer mostly from Cam Newton’s sophomore slump.

Sleeper Play: Ryan Broyles: If you told me Broyles would be second on the Lions in yards last week, that would have put a smile on my face. However being second resulted in only 35 yards and 2 receptions.

TE:

Sleeper Play: Dwayne Allen: Allen continues to see a lot of targets with Coby Fleener still sidelined. Had had 2 key drops that would have given him a huge day. He still was able to haul in 6 passes for 69 yards.

Sleeper Play: Rob Housler: Housler put owners in a deep hibernation with his “goose egg” on Sunday. Its safe to say avoid starting any Cardinal receiver, even Larry Fitzgerald, until the Cards can get decent QB play. Never thought we would be longing for Kevin Kolb.

WEEK 11 PICKS:

QB:

Upside Play: Eli Manning: Manning comes off the bye week looking to get the 2nd half rolling. He has had a couple of weeks to get back in sync with his receiving corps. Look for 300 and 2 TD’s Sunday night against Green Bay.

Sleeper: Ryan Fitzpatrick: Fitzy is due for a nice performance and indoors against Colts should help make that possible. Fitzy will be the next QB to put up numbers against the Colts. Look for 275 yards and 2 scores.

RB:

Upside Play: CJ Spiller: Despite the return of Fred Jackson, Spiller should get the the bulk of the work against a terrible run defense in the Colts. Spiller should exceed 100 total yards and find the endzone.

Upside Play: Frank Gore and Kendall Hunter: The Saints are just awful against the run and the 49ers come in as one of the best running teams in the NFL. With a young QB getting the nod, the Niners will try to establish the run and at the same time try to keep Drew Brees and the high powered Saints attack on the sidelines. Look for 175 total yards and 2 scores from the duo.

Upside Play: Matt Forte: The Bears will try to re-establish the run, with or without Jay Cutler. Look for Forte to get close to 25 touches and surpass 100 total yards and a score.

Sleeper Play: Jalen Parmelee and Bryce Brown: With MJD and LeSean McCoy out, look for these less heralded rookies to get the bulk of the carries for their respective teams. They should each be able to get to 75 yards and a score would be a bonus.

WR:

Upside Play: Roddy White: With Julio Jones still hurting look for Matt Ryan to bounce back and Roddy White to play an integral part in the passing game. The extra targets White should receive will put him over 100 yards and approach double digit receptions with a TD.

Sleeper Play: Donald Jones: I look for the Colts to try to take away CJ Spiller and Fred Jackson. Teammate Stevie Johnson will certainly garner some attention which will leave the crafty Jones in single coverage throughout the game. I expect 75 yards and a possible score for DJ.

TE:

Upside: Vernon Davis: The TE will try to keep the early chemistry going with Colin Kaepernick. In what should be a high scoring affair, Davis should receive the most targets, expect 80 yards and a score.
