Draft Preview: Who will the Cowboys Pick first

Dallas, TX- With the NFL Draft being hosted in Dallas, all eyes are on the Dallas Cowboys and who will be there first pick. Just a couple weeks ago wide receiver Dez Bryant was released from the team, which opened a little more cap room for the Cowboys. Dez was not happy with the decision and have repeatedly stated that he might stay in the NFC East.

Last season the offensive line suffered a lot of key injuries, so it could be possible that the Cowboys could take either a lineman or another wide receiver. With Bryant gone from the line-up, the Cowboys might be intrigued to go after TE Mark Andrews, which could be impactful for the Cowboys since Jason Witten is getting older. Andrews has been one heck of a player playing in Oklahoma and he has a great chance of being picked up. In his combine, he did an okay job in which he ran a 4.67, benched 17 reps, had a 31 inch vertical, and broad jump was 113 inches.

Andrews has great breakaway speed after securing catches and he is a big target to throw to. If you can line him in the slot position, he can be a nightmare for linebackers. Not many players can guard him one on one match-ups, so it would interesting to see if Dallas will pick him up.

If they do not pick a tight end they could use an edge rusher to get pressure on opposing quarterbacks. Last season, even with the key injuries, the Cowboys had a little success with putting pressure on quarterbacks, but it was the inconsistency that hurt them last season. They couldn’t get pressure on the right teams and it cost them a chance to make it into the playoffs. There has been speculation that they may go with Alabama’s Calvin Ridley, but at the given moment it is hard to tell who they are collectively interested picking, but they have to get a receiver to replace Bryant.

Time is running out for the Cowboys’ organization to figure out who they will pick. Stay tuned and watch the start of greatness. The NFL Draft will start at 8 pm/ET and 5 pm/PT.
