Redskins cornerback DeAngelo Hall made headlines going into the matchup with the Cowboys by announcing that he was going to go after Cowboys’ quarterback Tony Romo’s injured ribs. Following the game, he made headlines by going after just about everyone else, including the refs and his own coaching staff.
Hall was the target of numerous completions from Romo, as Hall was locked up on Dez Bryant for much of the game. Bryant finished the game with 4 receptions for 63 yards, including a key reception on third and 21, that was made in front of Hall. On that play, Hall was flagged with a questionable facemask call that tagged an addition 15 yards onto the 30-yard reception.
Hall had harsh words for the refs regarding the call, saying after the game, “I told the ref after that call, that might have been his worst call of the game. He’s going to get demerit points for that call, because that wasn’t no facemask.”
With regard to the play, he also commented on how long he had to try to cover Bryant alone as the Redskins were in a blitz that didn’t reach Romo. “Ain’t supposed to have to [cover him that long].”
When a reporter pointed out that the blitzes had worked well earlier in the game, Hall responded, “Sooner or later, somebody’s going to [expletive] figure it out.”
“You don’t have to be a [expletive] rocket scientist to figure it out.”
The frustration is certainly understandable, given the tough loss by the Redskins 18-16 on six Cowboys field goals. The full, colorful audio is available here (with expletives deleted).
