It was known earlier in the week that the Buffalo Bills were trying to reach an extension with Marcell Dareus before the season opener Sunday against the Indianapolis Colts.
It turns out, they were able to do just that.
It is being reported by multiple outlets that the Pro Bowl defensive tackle reached a six-year extension with the team, with the range of the reported contract falling between $100 million and max of $108 million.
$60 million of the contract comes fully guaranteed, per reports.
The extension takes away the possible headache that the Bills and Dareus were on a path to partake in, as his rookie contract was set to expire at the end of the season.
Now the Bills get their 25-year old All Pro locked up for the foreseeable future.
It was a foregone conclusion that Darues, one of the best defensive tackles in all of football, was going to get paid.
The Bills stepped up and made sure he wouldn’t be getting away.
