Christmas came early for 55 kids from UMOM and Right Track After School Program. Calais Campbell of the Arizona Cardinals continued to give back to the community, just weeks after his “Meals on Wheels” Thanksgiving giveaway. Campbell treated the kids to a nice dinner provided by Boston Market and even had time to call in a little help from good old Saint Nick.
While the kids enjoyed the holiday fixings, they were treated to yet another surprise. Campbell introduced some of his teammates that came to help spread the holiday cheer which included Larry Fitzgerald, Michael Floyd, Dan Williams, Earl Watford, Jasper Brinkley, Matt Shaughnessy just to name a few.
Each player had a group of anxious and excited children who were ready to roam Target and do some holiday shopping. While some went to arts and crafts, others took no time heading to the electronics department.
Although each child had a $200 gift card to spend, the players took it among themselves to treat the wide-eyed bunch to something a little extra. Brinkley’s group all got treated to a pair of Beats headphones while Dan Williams surprised his kids with all new Android Galaxy tablets.
As the store was filled with excitement, you couldn’t help but feel the electricity in the air! Watching the smiles from the kids was priceless but seeing an even bigger smile from Calais and his teammates reminds you no matter how much fame they have gained in the NFL… giving back is an even bigger joy!
More about The CRC Foundation:
The CRC Foundation is a non-profit, 501c(3) organization established in 2010 to teach skills that are not typically learned in a traditional classroom setting that are necessary for real life, such as accounting, budgeting, drug and alcohol awareness, cooking, diversity awareness, and writing. Future CRC classrooms will use the facilities as an alternative to negative activities in the community. Students will also have the opportunity to shadow mentors from the community, participate in sports and develop creative talents.
