Vikings HC Leslie Frazier confirmed that the team would like QB Christian Ponder under center for Week 1 — assuming the lockout is lifted soon. "That would be the ideal situation," Frazier said. "We’ve got our Matt Ryan, we’ve got our (Joe) Flacco, we’ve got our (Mark) Sanchez right here. But because of the uncertainty of the offseason, it’s just hard to determine exactly how you want to approach it. So, we need a little more clarity on what this offseason’s going to be like." With the lockout in place, the Vikings can’t negotiate with Ponder. And they can’t give him a playbook either. The longer this lockout lasts, the chances of rookies making immediate impacts this season get smaller and smaller.
