The Miami Dolphins signed CB Brent Grimes to a one-year deal for this upcoming season. Grimes spent most of last season sidelined due to an ACL injury.
In his 2011-12 season with the Atlanta Falcons, Grimes managed to make 49 tackles and one interception. His numbers from the season prior to that one seem to be a bit more promising where he had 87 tackles and five interceptions.
Grimes will replace Sean Smith in the line up for the Dolphins. Last season Smith had 59 total tackles and two interceptions. When Miami first signed Smith they were looking for a CB that would be able to make solid decisions and cause interceptions on various plays. Smith failed to do that which is why it was not as huge blow to Miami when they lost him via free agency to the Kansas City Chiefs. Smith and Grimes’ numbers are comparable, the only thing the Dolphins have to fear is how Grimes will manage to play after coming off of an ACL injury.
