Twenty-two Buffalo Bills players and hundreds of children, gathered for the first ever ultimate field day event at Ralph Wilson Stadium last month. The NFL Play 60 event, which included on-field football stations headed up by current players such as Ryan Fitzpatrick, Mario Williams, Fred Jackson, and Aaron Williams, allowed the children interactions with their favorite players, while also learning the Play 60 message. This campaign encourages kids to be active for 60 minutes every day to help reverse the trend of childhood obesity.
Among the active football stations and autograph opportunities, children also learned about nutrition and fitness from The American Dairy Association and Dairy Council. They have huddled up with the NFL to not only include fitness but to also eat right and stay active through the Fuel Up to Play 60 program. At the Dairy Council’s booth, Registered Dietitians encouraged children and their parents to consume 3-cups of nutrient-rich foods including low-fat and fat free dairy foods. These foods such as milk, yogurt, and cheese are excellent choices for fueling any athlete, and should be included in a well-rounded eating plan.
Face painted, gleaming children left the event with a better understand of the NFL Play 60 message, healthy eating tips, lifelong memories, and inspiration from their favorite Buffalo Bill players.
