The Buffalo Bills took the bye week to finally start to put together a healthy roster.
One key part will still be missing though, as Pro Bowl defensive tackle Kyle Williams is expected to miss the Bills’ next two games because of a left knee injury suffered in their Oct. 18 loss to the Cincinnati Bengals.
“It’s a significant injury but we anticipate him back at some point,” coach Rex Ryan said Monday. “But to think he can come back now, I don’t think he’s ready for that. I don’t think there’s any doubt that he won’t available this week and probably won’t be available for the Jets, being that it’s on five days [rest]. But he is making good progress.”
The next two games on the schedule for Buffalo (3-4) are both in the AFC East at a crucial point in the season.
This Sunday they play the Miami Dolphins (3-4) at home, and then next Thursday Buffalo takes to the road on a short week to take on the New York Jets (4-3).
“I guess it’s MCL, PCL, you got different stuff going on in there,” Williams said Monday. “It’s more significant than just a little sprain. But it’s nothing — luckily the way I was hit, it could have been a pretty serious deal. Luckily I don’t have to have surgery or anything like that. I just kind of power through it and move back.”
Corbin Bryant is likely to draw the start in both games for the injured Williams.
Bryant (5 tackles) started last week in his place during the Bills’ 34-31 loss to the Jacksonville Jaguars in London.
