Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers has obviously made a big impression on the fans this season, as he leads all vote getters in fan voting for the Pro Bowl this season. Rodgers is the top vote getter, with 1.58 million votes, narrowly edging out runner up Tom Brady, who has 1.45 million votes.
The Packers are the defending Super Bowl champions, and Rodgers is the defending Super Bowl MVP. They started this year 13-1, and seem on track to repeat, as nobody has been able to seriously slow down the execution of their offense. And that offense all runs through Rodgers. The Packers have the 25th ranked rushing offense, and the 4th ranked passing offense, and they are leading the league in scoring averaging 34.3 points per game.
Rogers has a passer efficiency rating of 120.1 for the season, just 1 point behind Peyton Manning’s single season record of 121.1. He has thrown for 4,360 yards and 40 touchdowns, with only 6 interceptions all season. He is having one of the all time great quarterback season – on the Mount Rushmore of single season accomplishments with Marino’s 1984 season, Manning 2004 season, and Tom Brady’s 2007 season.
Drew Brees, who is on pace to break Dan Marino’s 27-year-old passing yardage record, was a distant third in Pro Bowl votes with 1.19 million. The next two slots were held by wide receivers, as Calvin Johnson pulled in 1.18 million and Brady’s favorite target Wes Welker pulled in 1.13 million.
The Top Ten were rounded out with Philadelphia Eagles running back LeSean McCoy in sixth, Patriots tight end Rob Gronkowski in seventh, Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger in eighth, Vikings running back Adrian Peterson in ninth, and Steelers wide receiver Mike Wallace in tenth.
The Patriots are very well represented with 3 of the top 7 players in total votes, but Rodgers ran away with the overall title and looks to be in a battle with Brady for NFL MVP this season as well.
