The Atlanta Falcons are having a rough season this year. The Falcons dropped to 1-4 and now lost Juilo Jones for the season. Juilo has been a big part of the offense since he has been in the league and is one of Matt Ryan’s go to receivers; losing him would mean that Roddy White would have to take the load off Ryan’s back.
On Tuesday, Falcons head coach Mike Smith confirmed that Jones sustained an injury and subsequently met with doctors. He’ll also have a second opinion Wednesday in Charlotte, N.C.
“The first reports were not encouraging,” Smith said. “But we will wait and see what the second opinion (reveals).”
Smith then added: “It would be premature at this point in time (to rule Julio out for the season). Again, he’s going over to Charlotte for a second opinion …”
The Falcons are sending Jones for a second opinion Tuesday for what they fear might be a foot fracture, a source informed of the injury told NFL Media Insider Ian Rapoport. Fox Sports’ Jay Glazer first reported the news.”I don’t want to get into the specifics about what foot it is,” Smith said. “He did injure his foot last night and was able to complete the game. He had a test this morning and is going for a second opinion tomorrow. The first diagnosis was not that encouraging.”
“He’s going to be a hard guy to replace, if we have to replace him,” Smith said Tuesday.
