Pete Carroll thinks Jim Harbaugh is Trying to Get Help From Refs

Seattle Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll claims 49ers head coach Jim Harbaugh was working over the officials after Harbaugh complained about Seattle’s physical cornerback play when the two teams met back in week seven, SportsNet reports.

“Oh, come on, that was just coach speak,” Carroll said in a conference call on Wednesday.

Following the 49ers 13-6 victory over the Seahawks, Harbaugh was asked if Seattle cornerbacks Brandon Browner and Richard Sherman were locking up his receivers.

“I wouldn’t use the words, ‘locked up,’” Harbaugh said. “We’ll take that up with the officials (NFL office) and get their view of it.”

Carroll claims he didn’t see what Harbaugh was referring to on tape.

“I did go back and look at the film to see what Jim was talking about. And I had trouble seeing why there was a complaint. But the fact that he did, he was just trying to get some help from the officials, I think.”

Carroll went on to complement his corners play.

“We have corners who are good-sized guys and who can run like crazy,” Carroll said. “And they’ve been coached in the same style. We’re not changing our style drastically by changing personnel. We got guys we picked who play the way we like to play.”

We get a chance to see Seattle’s physical cornerbacks on display when the Seahawks host the 49ers Sunday night in a pivotal NFC West matchup.
