The Carolina Panthers have signed unrestricted free agent wide receiver Jerricho Cotchery to a two-year contract, the team announced Thursday.
Cotchery, 6-1 and 200 pounds, signs with Carolina after playing the last three seasons (2011-13) with the Pittsburgh Steelers. In 2013, Cotchery played in all 16 games with six starts, tallying 46 catches for 602 yards and a career-high 10 touchdowns.
A veteran of 10 NFL seasons, the first seven (2004-2010) with the New York Jets, Cotchery has played in 146 games with 73 starts, totaling 437 catches, 5,558 yards and 30 touchdowns. He posted back-to-back seasons of 82 catches in 2006 and 2007 with the Jets, tallying more than 1,000 receiving yards in 2007. He entered the NFL in 2004 as a fourth-round draft choice (108th overall) of the Jets out of North Carolina State.
