Kansas City Chiefs safety Husain Abdullah was cited for unsportmanlike conduct for praying after taking an interception for a touchdown. Watch the GIF below via gifdsports.
Apparently praying after a touchdown is a violation of the NFL Player Conduct Policy which says “players are prohibited from engaging in any celebrations while on the ground.” The NFL came up with that policy all on their own while to address domestic violence it has taken the release of a sickening video, a public outcry and a host of experts to just get the ball rolling.
I would think that expressing one’s faith would be a encouraged or even protected. Tim Tebow was known for praying and expressions of faith on and off the field. Maybe the NFL will do the right thing and admit here that it made a mistake.

CJ Laboy of Relativity Sports and Abdullah’s agent wasn’t happy about the penalty and had this to say on twitter:
Always so proud of H2 @HAbdullah39!!! “@KCChiefs: PICK 6 BY HUSAIN ABDULLAH!!! #NEvsKC” — CJ LaBoy (@CJLaBoy) September 30, 2014
If the NFL tries to fine @HAbdullah39 for his TD celebration there’s going to be some problems. — CJ LaBoy (@CJLaBoy) September 30, 2014
