The 2012 Heisman Trophy winner Johnny Manziel has signed an endorsement deal with Nike. Manziel is projected to be one of the highest paid QB in his class. Before he made his decision to go with Nike, Manziel had other companies that wanted to sign him. Companies like Adidas, Under Armour and New Balance’s Warrior brand all submitted bids for The 2012 Heisman Trophy winner’s marketing rights.
“Manziel has several ties to Nike, including a deal with some of Nike athlete LeBron James’ representatives for ‘off-field’ projects. He also worked with some of the nation’s top high school quarterbacks at last year’s Elite 11 camp on Nike’s campus sources said.”
Nike has even committed to using Johnny’s Nickname “Johnny Football” as a marketing strategy. Johnny Manziel confirmed earlier reports on Monday by signing a management deal with LRMR, the firm founded by LeBron James associate Maverick Carter. LRMR and Carter will be tasked with handling some of Manziel’s off-field projects. Manziel also announced that Erik Burkhardt will be his agent while Bradley Beckworth and Jeffrey Angelovich will look after his business-related matters.
If Manziel lives up to the hype that surrounds him, he could be one of the richest youngest players in the NFL.
