Geno Smith has been no stranger to game winning drives; with 1 minute and 45 seconds left in the game, Geno had to rise to the occasion. In the game winning drive he went 4 for 4 to ice the win for his kicker. Geno went 16 of 20 for 199 with three touchdowns. He was mistake free and when the Jets needed a big play he delivered. He has three game winning drives this season, which marks the most for a quarter back this season. Geno is the second rookie quarter back to throw for over 300 yards in NFL history.
The Jets needed this win to stay in contention within their division.“You’re one game away from being under .500. So most definitely, we’re desperate for a win,” Jets rookie Sheldon Richardson said. “And that’s probably one of the best 1-3 teams I’ve ever seen on paper. Ever.“So it’s nothing to be taken lightly. The (other) teams came in and beat them. And we have to do the same.”
“We want to be aggressive,” coach Rex Ryan said. “But you don’t want to do something to the detriment of your football team. Clearly, turning the football over has been a real problem.” In this game this was not the case. Geno handled the pressure as well as any quarterback.“I’m really emphasizing taking care of the ball,” Smith said. “It comes with just preparation, knowing what you’re seeing, knowing when you have an opportunity to take a chance down the field.”
The Falcons fall to 1-4 and looks desperate for a win, while the Jets goes t0 3-2. Both teams played a heck of a game and it literally came down to which quarterback had the ball last.
