Eli Manning Gets Advice From Peyton

New York Giants quarterback Eli Manning has struggled the past three weeks, falling short of what we have come to expect from the fourth quarter comeback kid. This is in part because of a nagging knee injury to his number option in the passing game Hakeem Nicks, but also a function of just not playing as sharp as he normally does.

Manning is looking to get back on track this Sunday against the Bengals, and is receiving a little help from his older brother, the New York Post reports.

Peyton Manning and the Broncos finished week nine with a win over the Cincinnati Bengals 31-23. When asked whether or not Eli would be contacting Peyton for some advice on the game, Eli responded.

“I’ll talk to him a little bit, talked to him [Tuesday] about their game … just seeing if there’s any tips on certain things,” Eli said. We always try to help each other out. “They’re playing Carolina this week, and we’ll help him out well, and just general notes, general ideas. And I have some questions for him [about the Bengals], on kinda how they were gonna attack certain looks or certain styles. We have a little different philosophy in our offenses, but there are some similarities … try to just get me ideas to toss off of him.”

Eli Manning’s backup David Carr commented on how having a brother like Peyton Manning could help in preparation for a game.

“Huge advantage,” Carr said. “They were even in the stadium, so they know how the crowd noise is gonna be. … I’m sure he gave him all the information he needed. Obviously we gotta translate it into our offense and go out there and execute, but it’s kinda nice to have your big brother go in there and kinda play ’em first and then come back and tell you what it was like.”
