Cox Joins the Chargers

The San Diego Chargers agreed to terms on a four-year contract with the Jacksonville Jaguars’ leading pass interceptor over the past four seasons, cornerback Derek Cox.

Cox, 26, has 12 interceptions and 32 passes defensed in four seasons in Jacksonville, including four picks last year in 12 games. His 12 interceptions over that period are more than double the next closest Jacksonville defender. He picked off four passes to lead the team in three of his first four NFL campaigns. Cox started 44 of 47 games played for the Jags.

Cox, 6-1, 195, out of William & Mary was chosen by the Jaguars in the third round of the 2009 NFL Draft.
