Ben Roethlisberger was having one of his best games of the season. He had passed for 339 yards and thrown two touchdowns to lead the Pittsburgh Steelers to overtime against the Dallas Cowboys. ThenRoethlisberger’s great day turned into a nightmare.
Roethlisberger was intercepted by Brandon Carr in overtime and the ball was returned to the one yard line. The Cowboys centered the ball on first down and kicked the winning field goal on second down.
The Cowboys win created a three way tie at 8-6 in the NFC East. If the season ended today, the Redskins would win the tiebreaker and with the division and the Cowboys and Giants would both miss the playoffs.
With the loss, the Steelers are also out of a playoff position but do control their own destiny for the final AFC playoff spot.
Next week, Dallas (8-6) will host the Saints, and the Steelers (7-7) will host the Bengals.
