The San Diego Chargers continued to bolster their AFC Divisional Playoff roster by signing former Indianapolis Colts inside linebacker Kavell Conner to a three-year deal. Conner becomes the second former Colt to sign with the Chargers in the last three days, joining running back Donald Brown, who signed with the Chargers on Tuesday.
The 6-0, 245-pound Conner comes from Indianapolis where he was drafted by a front office staff that included Chargers General Manager Tom Telesco. In four seasons with the Colts (2010-13), Conner started 36 of 52 games played. He collected 236 tackles, a sack and two forced fumbles, including a 104-tackle season in 2011 when he played in all 16 games with 15 starts.
Conner is a 27-year-old native of Richmond, Virginia. He played collegiately at Clemson, starting his final two seasons, before the Colts drafted him in the seventh round of the 2010 NFL Draft with the 240th overall selection.
Conner joins Brown, tight end David Johnson, guard Chad Rinehart, inside linebacker Donald Butler and safety Darrell Stuckey as recent signings by the 2014Chargers.
