The Bengals signed G Mike Pollak as an unrestricted free agent.
Pollak (6-3, 300; Arizona State) is a sixth-year NFL player in 2013. He has 59 career NFL games played, with 41 starts. He entered the NFL in 2008 as a second-round draft choice of Indianapolis and played for the Colts through 2011. He signed as an unrestricted free agent for 2012 with Carolina.
He played in Carolina’s season opener last year, but suffered a shoulder injury during practice the following week. He was inactive for the next three games before being placed on the Reserve/Injured list. In 2011, he played in 15 games for Indianapolis, with eight starts. In 2010, he played in every game and started 13 for a Colts team that was AFC South champion and ranked first in the NFL in fewest sacks allowed per passing play.
The Bengals waived WR Lavasier Tuinei, under the Non-Football Injury category. (First name is pronounced “luh-VAHJ-ay” and last name is pronounced “too-uh-NAY.”) Tuinei had been signed to the Bengals offseason roster on Jan. 1. He entered the NFL in 2012 as a college free agent with Seattle and spent time during the ’12 season on the Seattle practice squad.
