Asante Samuel Foundation Hosting Poker Tournament

Asante Samuel’s Bring It Home Single Moms Foundation is hosting a poker tournament to raise money for the charity on Tuesday, November 15th. Held at the Whisper Nightclub in Philadelphia, Pa., the tournament will feature some of Samuel’s Eagles teammates such as DeSean Jackson, Brent Celek, and Jon Dorenbos. NBA players Udonis Haslem and Keyon Dooling will also be in attendance.

Tickets, available through the foundation’s website, range from $100 for entrance to event and a meal, to $1,000 for VIP treatment and a spot at a table with a professional athlete. Prizes will be given away at the tournament, including tickets to an Eagles game, a round of golf with a professional athlete in Miami, or a deep-sea fishing trip with an athlete.

There will be an after party following the event to raise more money for the foundation, which works to put struggling single mothers in homes. “There are a lot of single parents living in secondary homes in the ghetto and the hood,” Samuel said, “and that’s alright, but we want to give a person the chance to have a better lifestyle for their children so [they have] the best opportunity to be successful.”

Samuel has high hopes for the future of the foundation, hoping that it will continue to grow and expand in the future. “I hope ten years from now we have twenty houses for single-parent families and educational tools to help out the younger kids. [We want to] give the kids a better chance to succeed, through tutoring or transportation or anything we can do to help.”
