Dez: “Media twisted my Words”

After his latest comments to the media, Dez Bryant might not be speaking his mind anytime soon. The talkative Bryant has already made highly-publicized comments about his goal to be the first 2,000-yard receiver in football and about his new-found motivation from the hatred directed at the Cowboys.

Bryant took to Twitter to voice his frustration after he felt his words were misunderstood.

“I’m never talking with the media outside of Valley Ranch, all they do is twist your words,” Bryant tweeted.

The result of this media snafu?

No more updates from Bryant. He will comply with the NFL ruling that allows media access to team headquarters, but will not speak with media otherwise.

It is still unknown which specific member(s) of the media Bryant feels have misconstrued his words. However, Bryant’s first comments about the hatred for the Cowboys were made on ESPN 600 in El Paso, which led to national broadcasting via ESPN’s TV networks. A clip of the interview received majorly critical comments from ESPN’s Skip Bayless and Steven A. Smith; the incident that Bryant has claimed his wording was twisted.

As a professional athlete, you are going to draw criticism from an array of talk-show hosts, TV personalities, and other members of the media. Bryant should take note of this and learn to tune-out the doubters. Similarly to his motivation with the hatred for his Cowboys, Bryant should take these comments as motivation and hold little stock in their meaning. In reality, Bryant is going to be talked about one way or the other, regardless of his participation (or lack thereof) with media personnel.
