Denver Broncos second-year linebacker, Von Miller, channeled his inner Joe Namath via his Twitter account when he claimed that his team will win Super Bowl XLVIII. Miller incited a social media riot with the claim that Denver will represent the AFC in the Big Game.
The Broncos were the top seed in the AFC this season before losing in heart-breaking fashion to the eventual Super Bowl Champion Baltimore Ravens. Denver fans have still not recovered from the most bone-headed play of the entire 2012 NFL Playoffs.
In Miller’s defense, they were a defensive blunder away from advancing to the Championship game. Surely if Joe Flacco could up-end the Patriots, Peyton Manning could have broken down the struggling Pats Secondary.
To further bolster Miller’s claim, Super Bowl XLVIII will be played in a cold weather stadium in New York/New Jersey. MetLife Stadium in February is sure to benefit teams like the Denver Broncos who are used to battling not only the elevation, but the elements.
Denver is almost certain to return to the Playoffs again in 2013, courtesy of playing in the weakest division in football. However, with the moves Kansas City is making, the Broncos may have some decent competition with Andy Reid and co. Though Miller is not entirely crazy for making the bold prediction, 11 months from Super Bowl kickoff is probably not the best time to do so.
