Most know Jarvis Green as a two-time Super Bowl Champion with the New England Patriots and current NFL free agent. But very few are aware of his affinity for shrimp.
Pro Player Insiders recently caught up with Green at an event hosted by New Orleans Saints’ defensive end Will Smith’s Foundation, “Where there’s a Will there’s a Way” At the event the nine-year veteran who calls Baton Rouge his home told us what he was up to in New Orleans. “Just working, working with the NFL and doing different events for charity and business,” Green said on the red carpet. “I’m doing a few panels, but also I work for a shrimp company.” Green works for the New Orleans Shrimp House, where, according to Green, they promise to only serve “domestic free and gulf free shrimp.”
But Green wasn’t at the event for the publicity and spoke about the importance of supporting other NFL players, and stressed the gratification he feels giving back to the community. “I’m just hanging out supporting Will, you know, there’s a Will there’s a chance,” Green said with a play on words in reference to Smith’s charity. “You know he’s a New Orleans guy and he’s been with the Saints. I’ve also played against him, so I’m here supporting another NFL player.”
When asked about how it feels to give back to charity, Green noted, “It’s always great to give back, always. I have my own foundation that I give back to, and the things that we do and that God has blessed us with, they are given to us so we can spread our wealth, talents, and just touch somebody. You know, that’s the biggest thing about giving back.”
Although Green attended pre-Super Bowl events, he didn’t watch the game live. Instead, he opted to watch from the comfort of his own home with his teenage son. “I will be at home,” Green said when asked where he would be for the Super Bowl. “I have a dinner party for my son, he makes 15 on Sunday, and so I will be at my house in Baton Rouge eating some birthday cake with my son.”
