Chuck Pagano Finishes Chemotherapy, Eyes Return to Sidelines

Now that Indianapolis Colts Coach Chuck Pagano has finished his last chemotherapy treatment and his leukemia is in remission, Pagano is eying a return to the coaching sideline by the end of the season.

Pagano’s doctor informed Mike Chappell of the Indianapolis Star that depending on how Pagano is feeling, it is reasonable to believe that the coach can resume his duties for the regular season finale against the Houston Texans December 30th.

“I’m fully supportive and I have my fingers crossed that he’ll be there on the sideline if that’s where he wants to be,” Dr. Larry Cripe said. “He’s received all of the chemotherapy he was to receive. Now it’s just a matter of over the next couple of weeks recovering back to health. He can start conditioning and moving towards what he wants to do, which is return to coaching.”

The Colts goal was to keep playing long enough for Coach Pagano to return to the sideline before the end of the season. With the Colts in prime position for a Wildcard Playoff Berth, if the coach is feeling up to the task of returning to the sideline it won’t just be for the regular season finale but for the postseason as well.
