With the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy leaving New York and New Jersey devastated, the question on many fan’s mind is whether the Giants home game against the Steelers in New Jersey will still be played.
The stadium has not been damaged in any way by the storm, but the problem at hand is how the fans will be able to commute to the game.
NFL spokesman Greg Aiello told Profootballtalk.com in an email “We are going to prepare to play and will stay in close touch with public authorities.”
Right now there have been at least 40 deaths, thousands have lost power, the subways in New York City are flooded, and many neighborhoods are also flooded. There is no timetable as to when the transportation systems will be up and running but the league’s first option may be to move the game to Monday night, giving the public authorities an extra day with the clean-up effort.
