Rob Bironas nailed a forty yard field goal as the clock expired to give the Titans a 26-23 victory over the Steelers on Thursday Night Football.
The Steelers had a 7 point lead late in the fourth quarter but Matt Hasselbeck lead the Titans back. Kenny Britt scored a touchdown for the Titans with 4 minutes remaining in the game to tie the score at 23. The Steelers then drove the ball down the field and attempted a 54 yard field goal with a minute remaining in the game. Steve Suisham’s attempt fell short and the Titans were left with a short field. Hasselbeck found his tight end Jared Cook for a big gain that set up Bironas’ heroics.
Bironas was 4-4 on field goals in the game.
Ben Roethlisberger threw for 363 yards and passed Terry Bradshaw for the most passing yards in Steelers history.
Next week, the Steelers (2-3) travel to Cincinnati to play the Bengals and the Titans (2-4) travel to Buffalo to play the Bills.
