Arguably the best wide receiver in Bills history, Andre Reed made an appearance at the 11th Annual NYC Buffalo Bills Backer Draft Party at McFadden’s Bar and Restaurant last night. Bills fans from all over the country packed the bar to watch the first round of this year’s draft.
A Stevie Johnson look-a-like showed up at McFadden’s to bring some swag to the draft party. Ryan Leary from Buffalo, NY and many others who flew in agreed that the Bills need a left tackle and lineman to better protect quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick. One Bill’s fan, who came to NYC to celebrate his birthday, wished for “a player to come in, make some hits, and knock the snot out of somebody.”
Reed also joined in on the Bills Mafia festivities. He is one of many Buffalo players that come to show love to McFadden’s huge Bills following. Reed mingled with fans, talked about his 1985 draft experience, and shared some seasoned advice to the newly drafted 2012 rookie class.
Pro Player Insiders was able to catch up with Andre Reed at the McFadden’s Draft Event. “I was still in college and watched the draft at home with my family,” Reed said. “I was projected to go between rounds 3 and 6, but they ended up taking me in the 4th. It was a very special day for me.”
When asked what advice he had for the rookies, Reed said, “I ran into Quinton Coples (first round #16 pick of NY Jets) and told him it takes a lot of work and a little luck. You really make your own luck by hard work in this game. I got lucky to play 16 years. You just have to surround yourself by good people.”
Reed’s lasting advice is, “Today, the rookies lives changed pretty quick, but it’s time to get down to playing some football.”
