Chaz Scott is a 6-foot-2, 218 pound former linebacker from Oregon State University. Scott did not get to the Beaver’s Division I football program without hard work. He attended Hamilton High School in Arizona and by his senior year was named a SuperPrep Magazine first team All-American and rated fifth by the magazine for athletes in the state of Arizona. He was rated by PrepStar Magazine eighth on its West Coast defensive backs list. He was first team All-State on defense as a senior and selected the best defensive back in Arizona.
Scott’s experience playing in high school, NCAA Division I football, and in multiple Bowl games almost led him to the NFL. Many of his teammates and friends from high school to OSU made it to the NFL, including: Steven Jackson-Rams, Dwan Edwards-Bills, Brandon Hughes-Eagles, Brandon Browner-Seattle, Nick Barnett-Bills, Sabby Piscitelli- Chiefs, Sammy Stroughter-Bucs, Matt Moore-Dolphins, DeMeco Ryan- Eagles, Evan Mathis- Eagles, Larry Fitzgerald – Cardinals, Matt Kemp, Kenny King- former Cardinal/Raven,Gerard Lawson-former Browns/current free agent, Damien Andersen -former Cardinal, Charlie Peprah -Packers, Derek Andersen-Panthers, and Terrell Suggs -Ravens.
Although Scott never got to leave his mark in the NFL, he did have tryouts with the Jacksonville Jaguars and Washington Redskins but never got picked up. His journey didn’t end as excepted, but Scott did take his passion for football and fitness elsewhere…he channeled it into building a personal training business in his home town of Chandler, Arizona. With hard work and planning, last year Scott opened The Factory Youth Academy. He is now able to share his experience training for football with others. Everyday Scott personally trains kids and adults using weights, resistance equipment, and athletic-football training techniques. He also is coaching at his alma mater Hamilton High School, which is one of the winningest football programs in the country.
Coach Chaz Scott will be sharing his insider health and training tips he has used over his football career weekly with Pro Player Insiders. Stay tuned.
