Vikings RB Adrian Peterson (knee) started running again this week. That was originally supposed to happen at the end of February, but the team didn’t want AP to rush in his return from last December’s torn ACL.
HC Leslie Frazier says Peterson’s rehab remains on track. “This is the beginning stages of running,” Frazier said. “So, we’ll have a better gauge in another, let’s say, one or two weeks as to what kind of progress he’s going to make. But we’ve got to determine if he’s going to have any swelling after the first time he runs, when he begins cutting and turning and twisting.”
At this point, we’d call Peterson 50-50 to be available for Week 1. But the team has made it clear that his workload will be limited early on. Look for Toby Gerhart to open the season as Minnesota’s lead back.
