Bills Look to Make Big Moves, Meet with Williams and Meachem

The Buffalo Bills have a couple of big name house guests on the first evening of free agency and, according to a league source, they expect them to become new members of the family.

DE Mario Williams and WR Robert Meachem both made Buffalo their first stop with free agency opening Tuesday at 4:00pm, and reportedly the Bills expect to sign both players within the next 24 hours.  Williams is the highest profile free agent not named Manning, and Meachem would be a major addition to the Bills offense.

Both players went to dinner with many pieces to the Bills’ brass, including Nix, CEO Russ Brandon, Head Coach Chan Gailey, Dave Wannstedt and defensive tackle Kyle Williams.

Buffalo has traditionally been conservative in free agency and focused on building through the draft.  The Bills got off to a quick 5-2 start last season before a rash of injuries sent them into a seven game tailspin.  Retaining some of their key veterans will help keep the nucleus together for next season, and if they can add Williams and Meachem, they could challenge for the division.

They are in one of the toughest divisions in the league, sharing it with the Patriot, Jets and Dolphins, but they showed that they can compete with all those teams last year.  A few key upgrades, and the AFC East could be very interesting next season.
