This hilarious sitcom star, Wendy Raquel Robinson, worked her fabulousness and rocked the red carpet on January 20 at Nokia Theatre, as a presenter during the NFLPA PULSE Awards in Los Angeles.
I had the pleasure of interviewing Wendy Raquel Robinson who plays Tasha Mack, the ambitious mother and publicist of Malik Wright on one of BET’s hottest shows, The Game. Wendy kindly clarified her role on the show, “I am not just a sassy, sexy mom…. I am a mom-slash-manager in an industry that is dominated by men.”
From playing this role on the show, Robinson has learned a lot of the “ins and outs” of the football world, so she was honored to be invited to this annual event that showcases the great things players are doing not just on the field but off it as well.
With the articulation in Robinson’s answers, I decided to dig a little deeper. I asked her if she had met any of the true NFL wives/girlfriends and how did they compare to the woman on The Game? After thinking for a moment Wendy related this cute story,
“You know what? I had the opportunity to meet Micheal Vick’s fiancée. She came, she worked on the show, and she was so subtle.
“We were in the sky box where all the wives and girlfriends hang out and she was doing extra work. But I noticed she had platinum heels, a fabulous handbag, her hair was done, and her makeup was done. And I was like, ‘and who is this trying to upstage me and Tia (Mowry, Robinson’s co-star)?
“So we started talking to her. She was a friend of the director and she opened up and was so candid, so wonderful and so grounded. Since then we became the best of besties.”
Wendy does watch football herself in her time off camera. She plans to watch the Super Bowl at home with her boo, Marco Perkins. I could feel the love between the two, whom have been married for 9 years, when she called Marco over to chime into our conversation.
“This is my boo boo, Marco Perkins,” Robinson cooed. Then she turned to Perkins and asked, “Tell the truth what can I cook? What is the thing I throw down with my original?”
Perkins answered grinning ear to ear, “Tacos.” To which Wendy quickly responded, “What’s good about my tacos? Tell the truth, tell the truth… what’s so good about my tacos? My homemade salsa!”
This couple was born in raised in Los Angeles and is still debating whether to root for the Patriots or Giants. But one thing is for sure, Wendy’s game plan is to be eating her homemade salsa with tacos this Sunday and while her and her boo boo watch the Super Bowl.
The Game premiered in its 5th season on January 11th and can be seen regularly Tuesdays at 10 pm Eastern time.
