Former Redskin Fred Smoot On Muhammad Ali and NFL Rules

Dave Zirin recently interviewed former NFL defensive back Fred Smoot on the Edge of Sports.  Smoot was drafted out of Mississippi State in 2001 by the Washington Redskins.  In his NFL career he recorded 444 tackles and 21 interceptions.  Fred was traded to the Minnesota Vikings in 2005 but returned to Washington for the next season.

Smoot was released from the Vikings in 2010 and his since not returned to the NFL.  During the show, Smoot shared his insights on several topics including Muhammad Ali, rule changes to protect receivers in the NFL and Sean Taylor.
