Few Snaps for Seahawks’ Rookie Running Back Rashaad Penny

Seattle, WA-The Seattle Seahawks are gradually gaining a thunder and lighting type of scheme on the ground with Chris Carson and Mike Davis. Both of these players have excelled with gaining positive yards on the ground. A couple of weeks ago against the Cardinals, Carson torched their secondary for over 100 yards. This was the first time a Seahawks’ running back eclipsed 100 yards since Marshawn Lynch left the Seahawks. With Carson being a downhill runner and Mike Davis being that guy that brings speed, power, and energy off the bench, it has taken a load off of Russell Wilson.

However, the Seahawks drafted Rashaad Penny and he has not seen much of the field. With Carson and Davis doing the majority of the work, it has been difficult for Penny to get engaged in the offense. When he has had his shot, he did not produce much. He has 29 touches for 92 yards. Even though he is coming back from finger surgery, head coach Pete Caroll thinks his time will come, but in due time. “He’s just looking for his opportunity – he’s dying to get in there,” coach Pete Carroll explained Tuesday. “He’s just scratching and clawing to get out there and get more turns. There just wasn’t enough opportunities, but this is a long season, there’s a lot of carries, there’s a lot of running to be done.”

The Seahawks will play the Raiders this week in London, so it will be interesting if Penny is seen on the field contributing in other ways to get the Seahawks back on the winning track. Coach Carroll is known to roll the dice on players, as well as forming designs that are specifically for that player. Maybe he could bring Penny out on some third and shorts or goal line situations. Anything can happen on Sunday!
