New Orleans Saints quarterback DREW BREES has been named the 2017 CASTROL EDGE CLUTCH PERFORMER OF THE YEAR. Castrol® EDGE® and the National Football League announced the winners tonight, February 3, during NFL Honors – a two-hour primetime special airing nationally on NBC the night before Super Bowl LII.

  • Week 11 – Drew Brees throws for 385 yards in Saints’ overtime win:

Brees completed 29 of 41 passes for 385 yards and two touchdowns for a 106.2 passer rating in the New Orleans Saints’ 34-31 overtime win against the Washington Redskins. He helped the Saints become the first team in the Super Bowl era to win its next eight games immediately following an 0-2 start.

Brees was one of five finalists nominated to receive this honor. The other finalists were Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Carson Wentz, New Orleans Saints running back Mark Ingram, Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiverAntonio Brown and Minnesota Vikings wide receiver Stefon Diggs.

The five finalists were selected among 17 of the most memorable Castrol EDGE Clutch Performers during the 2017 NFL season. Each week the NFL selected five nominees for the performers of the week in which the fans voted for the winner on NFL.com/Castrol-EDGE.
