The Buffalo Bills taken action on their offensive line coach Aaron Kromer by placing him on an indefinite paid administrative which is in reaction to his arrest for assault and battery from this past weekend he allegedly punched a boy and threatening to kill the boy’s family.
On Tuesday, the Bills announced their decision, by giving the following statement:
“Over the last few days our organization has continued to gather information in regards to the alleged incident involving Offensive Line Coach Aaron Kromer,” Buffalo Bills president Russ Brandon said in the statement.
“We have been in regular discussions with the league office and have decided to place Aaron on indefinite paid administrative leave in accordance with the league’s Personal Conduct Policy while we continue to work our way through the investigative process with the league.”
According to a statement by the Walton County sheriff’s office that was released on Sunday, Kromer and his son, Zachary, allegedly got into an altercation with his son’s neighbor, who is a minor.
The police report stated that Kromer confronted three boys over using their beach chairs left by a beach access. Then he allegedly grabbed their fishing pole and threw the poles into the water. He then allegedly pushed one of the boys to the ground and punched him in the face.
Then Kromer allegedly ordered that the chairs be returned to where they were found and told the boy that he would kill his family if he reported him to the police. The 48 year old Kromer has spent that last two seasons as the offensive coordinator of the Chicago Bears. He has also spent time with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 2001 and also had time with the Oakland Raiders and the New Orleans Saints as an interim coach in 2012.
Kromer has previously made headlines, last December, by publically criticizing starting Chicago Bears QB Jay Cutler to an NFL reporter and then later apologizing in a team meeting in which sources said it was a “tearful apology”.
Bills assistant offensive line coach Kurt Anderson is expected to fill in for Kromer, as well as offensive coordinator Greg Roman, who has previously been an offensive line assistant in the past.
