Updated – Maurice Jones-Drew Announces Retirement

Former Jacksonville Jaguars and Oakland Raiders running back Maurice Jones-Drew announced his retirement from the National Football League  yesterday. Drafted by the Jacksonville Jaguars in the second round (pick number 60) of the 2006 NFL draft. He spent eight seasons in Jacksonville before the Jaguars let him walk in free agency.

He signed with the Oakland Raiders during the 2014 offseason but managed only 96 yards on 53 carries finishing the year with a 2.2 yards per carry average. He will turn 30 on March 23.

Jones-Drew will go down as one of the most productive and best running backs of his generation finishing his career with 1847 carries for 8167 yards and 68 touchdowns. His career average per carry is 4.4  yards and he was simply outstanding in the passing game as well.

Congratulations to MJD on an outstanding NFL career we will miss watching you bulldoze your way through opposing defenders!  Good luck in your post NFL career which is sure to be just as successful.
