Punter RYAN ALLEN of the New England Patriots was named the AFC Special Teams Players of the Week for games played in the 14th week of the 2014 season (December 4, 7-8), the NFL announced today.

- Allen punted five times for 247 yards (49.4 average) and placed four inside the 13-yard line in the Patriots’ 23-14 win at San Diego.
- He placed punts at the 13, 10, 11 and 10-yard lines on each of his first four kicks, helping to limit the Chargers’ average drive start to their own 16-yard line for the game.
- Allen, whose longest punt against San Diego covered 60 yards, and the Patriots’ punt coverage yielded only two punt returns for seven yards.
- In his secondseason from Louisiana Tech, this is Allen’s first career Player of the Week Award.
- Allen is the third Patriots player to be named Special Teams Player of the Week in 2014, joining defensive tackle CHRIS JONES (Week 7) and wide receiver JULIAN EDELMAN (Week 9).
