Washington Redskins 2014 “Mock” Schedule

The 2014 NFL Schedule will be released tonight at 8 pm. Regular season games aren’t played until September, but it’s always fun to analyze a team’s slate in the spring. Especially a couple weeks prior to the draft when things are somewhat quiet.

The Washington Redskins have a nice list of opponents this year. They’ll face the Indianapolis Colts for a RGIII vs Andrew Luck showdown. Washington will also have a chance to play the World Champs and their in-conference rival - Seattle Seahawks.  Not to mention, the typical NFC East battles that just heated up a bit with the DeSean Jackson signing. One game that’s in concrete is Washington will conclude the season with a match-up against the Philadelphia Eagles. Per NFL rules, teams finish the season against a different division opponent every year. Washington ended 2012 against Dallas and 2013 in a horrid game against the New York Giants. Another note — it’s unlikely the Redskins will play San Francisco in primetime this year as the 49ers are unable to host night games at their new stadium due to traffic and parking.

So without further ado, we continue our tradition of releasing a mock schedule prior to the official announcement:

Washington Redskins’ opponents:

Home: Dallas Cowboys, New York Giants, Philadelphia Eagles, St. Louis Rams, Seattle Seahawks, Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Jacksonville Jaguars, Tennessee Titans

Away: Dallas Cowboys, New York Giants, Philadelphia Eagles, Arizona Cardinals, San Francisco 49ers, Minnesota Vikings, Houston Texans, Indianapolis Colts

Washington Redskins 2014 Mock Schedule:

(September)

Week 1: Giants (4:25 pm) FOX

Week 2: at Cardinals (4:25 pm) FOX

Week 3: Cowboys (8:30 pm) ESPN

Week 4: at Vikings (1:00 pm) FOX

  • Redskins kick the season off against the New York Giants and get themselves an early Monday Night Football game against Dallas. With Jay Gruden at helm and his brother Jon calling the game — MNF just got a lot more interesting.

(October)

Week 5: at Texans (1:00 pm) FOX

Week 6: Buccaneers (1:00 pm) FOX

Week 7: Rams (4:25 pm) FOX

Week 8: at Colts (8:30 pm) CBS

  • Redskins vs Colts to close out CBS’ slate of Thursday Night Football games. This TNF stage could be better than NFL Networks, which seems to have a generic brand… which is ironic considering that’s the league’s station.

Week 9: *Bye*

  • With a bye week splitting three straight games on the road, it should make traveling a little easier for the team.

(November)

Week 10: at Eagles (8:30 pm) ESPN

Week 11: at 49ers (4:25 pm) FOX

Week 12: Seahawks (4:25 pm) FOX

Week 13: Jaguars (1:00 pm) CBS

  • A Monday Night Football showdown against the Philadelphia Eagles. DeSean Jackson gets a chance to return and seek revenge against the team that drafted him. The first three weeks there in November is a tough slate that could make or break the team’s season.

(December)

Week 14: at Giants (1:00 pm)* FOX

Week 15: Titans (1:00 pm) CBS

Week 16: at Cowboys (1:00 pm)* FOX

Week 17: Eagles (1:00 pm)* FOX

  • Redskins end the season with three of their last four games being against division opponents. The (*) denotes flexible games.

Check back later for the official schedule so we can discover how wrong my mock is!
