With about two minutes remaining in SuperBowlXLVIII, who would of thought that Tarvaris Jackson would be controlling Seattle’s offense?
Critics of Peyton Manning are probably saying “I told you so’ right about now. ‘He’s not clutch enough for the Super Bowl’ or ‘he’s only good in the regular season’ has been reiterated countless times by herds of the ’12th Man.’
Yes, Peyton probably had the worst game of his career Sunday but you can’t place all of the blame of Sunday’s Super Bowl debacle on his shoulders.
Beginning with Manny Ramirez‘s airmail of a snap over Manning’s head on Denver’s first offensive snap that resulted in a safety, the tone was set for the game.
From that point on the game was all but determined.
Then there was Peyton’s first interception of the game on a poor overthrow to Kam Chancellor which resulted in a Marshawn Lynch one yard touchdown run to give Seattle a 15-0 lead early in the second quarter.
The following Denver drive resulted in a 69-yard pick six by Malcolm Smith. Are you sensing a pattern? Three turnovers resulted in 21 Seattle points in SuperBowlXLVIII.
It took the Seahawks 12 seconds to score on a safety. It took Percy Harvin exactly 12 seconds to return the opening kick of the second half to the house. The 12th Man showed up at MetLife Stadium as well. The number 12 was good to the Seahawks on Sunday.
Plain and simple, the Broncos failed to show up Sunday.
