San Francisco 49ers Find Winning Way at St. Louis 35-11

The San Francisco 49ers looked like their old selves again on Thursday night in St. Louis as they defeated the Rams 35-11. Led by running back Frank Gore, who had 153 yards on the ground, the 49er offensive seemed to find its groove while the defense held the St. Louis Rams to under 3 yards per play.San Francisco (2-2) and St. Louis (1-3) both entered the night coming off back-to-back losses, as the 49ers hoped to avoid losing three straight games for the first time in the Jim Harbaugh era. Last season the Rams had a tie and an overtime victory of the 49ers.

The San Francisco defensive unit was missing cornerback Nnamdi Asomugha, and linebackers Patrick Willis and Aldon Smith, but still managed to hold the Rams to a mere 18 yards rushing on 19 attempts. Meanwhile Rams quarterback Sam Bradford was 19/41 for 202 yards with one touchdown and one interception on the night.

After two weeks of poor quarterback play, Colin Kaepernick resembled the type of player fans have been expecting to see all season. Kaepernick was 15/23 for 167 yards and two touchdowns against the Rams after no touchdowns and four interceptions in the previous two weeks combined. Anquan Boldin had five receptions for 90 yards and a score for the 49ers as well.

The Rams have trailed by double digits in every game this season. In the season opener they were able to come from behind to defeat the Arizona Cardinals, but have been unable to do the same over the past two weeks. Good news for ST. Louis fans is that the team has 11 days to prepare for a miserable Jacksonville team.

As for the 49ers, they climb back to .500 on the season and will begin working towards their game next week against the Houston Texans.
