Brian Hoyer was informed by Rob Chudzinski that he will get the start in place of Brandon Weeden, who left Sunday’s game against the Ravens with a thumb injury.
Hoyer will start Sunday when the Browns travel to play the Minnesota Vikings, according to a team spokesman.
Hoyer was inactive for the first two games and has been third on the team’s depth chart throughout the preseason.
“I’m going to keep all of our options open right now,” Chudzinski said Monday when asked who would start if Weeden couldn’t. “We’re really waiting on Brandon to see where he’s at and make the determination in the next few days.”
There is no indication on how long Weeden is expected to be out.
