The Detriot Lions took a defensive tackle with the No. 2 overall pick last year, and Ndamukong Suh worked out pretty well. So this, year, they decided to take Auburn DT Nick Fairley at No. 13 to pair with Suh in the middle of their defensive line.
Analysis: Jim Schwartz loves the defensive line, and at this point the Lion’s D line could be as good as anybody’s. Fairley was, in the wake of Auburn’s national championship victory in January, thought of as a possible No. 1 overall pick. But he slid to 13 as a result of concerns about his aggressive, difficult-to-control personality. If the Detroit coaching staff can rein him in, he could be a steal here.
