At the Half, Buffalo leads Minnesota 13-3

The Buffalo Bills and Minnesota Vikings are at halftime with the score 13 -3 Buffalo. With Mario Williams not playing tonight for Buffalo, defensive end Jerry Hughes had an opportunity to start and show case his abilities and he didn’t waste any time. On the first play of the game, Hughes broke through the line on an inside move and sacked Vikings quarterback Christian Ponder for a loss of 7. The Vikings would eventually go 3 and out.

After the punt Bills fans got their first look at quarterback Kevin Kolb. Kolb handed the ball of to CJ Spiller twice before throwing an incompletion on third down. Kolb threw his first interception of the year on his second pass attempt during the following drive.

Kolb had some happy feet in the pocket. He scrambled to the right several times and was not very accurate during the first half. Ponder wasn’t much better as the Bills defense applied pressure on almost every drop back.
Buffalo used that pressure to get on the board after an errant shotgun snap that went over the head of backup quarterback Matt Cassel. The ball rolled into the end zone where Jamie Blatnick dove on it for Buffalo, resulting in a touchdown. Dustin Hopkins would tack on two field goals with under 2 minutes to go to give the Bills a 13-3 lead.

So far Kolb has been average which might not help his case for the starting quarterback roll. He was 13 of 21 passing for 111 yards and an interception. EJ Manuel did not take a snap in the first half so he will most likely start the second half for Buffalo who will receive the kickoff to start the half.
