The Giants traded up to take Syracuse quarterback Ryan Nassib, pairing him with his former Syracuse left tackle Justin Pugh who was taken in the first round.
Rumors floated around heavily as draft day approached that Nassib could go in the first round to the Buffalo Bills, pairing him with his former college coach Doug Marrone who now runs the show in Buffalo. However, the Bills traded down and took EJ Manuel in the first round.
Like Barkley, another highly regarded prospect, Nassib dropped all the way to Day Three to hear his name called.
Nassib will backup two-time Super Bowl winner Eli Manning but could develop into a strong backup, something similar to what happened with Matt Schaub in Atlanta.
Nassib rounded out his collegiate career with 9,190 yards, 70 touchdowns, and two Pinstripe Bowl victories under his belt.
