NATIONAL HARBOR, MD - Last Friday, the Washington Redskins Charitable Foundation and Alumni Association held the 53rd annual Welcome Home Luncheon at Gaylord National Resort and Convention Center.
Each year, the Redskins hold this event to celebrate all things burgundy and gold — kicking off the football season with players, coaches and alumni. It’s the only event that allows fans and corporate partners to mingle with the entire Washington Redskins team. Each table is guaranteed at least one player or coach seated with the attendees. Proceeds from the event benefit youth programs of the Washington Redskins Charitable Foundation and Alumni Association.
The event is also used to honor players for their contributions on and off-the-field. Pro Bowl Tackle Trent Williams received the 2013 Bobby Mitchell Offensive Player Of The Year Award; Cornerback DeAngelo Hall was honored with the 2013 Sam Huff Defensive Player Award; QB Robert Griffin III won the 2013 Redskins Salute Award for his efforts with the military; and RB Alfred Morris earned the 2013 Community Service Award.
Team President/General Manager Bruce Allen used the luncheon to announce that Super Bowl Champion QB Mark Rypien will become the 46th inductee into the Redskins Ring Of Fame this season.
